+ Big, clean rooms & great service !
We couldn't believe the size of our room!! The hotel is slightly older and more dated than what we were expecting from the comments on Trip Advisor, however still rates top class for comfort, cleanliness and service. They have a huge selection of DVD's & books to borrow at reception, internet in our room, and even kimono robes. After a day out sight-seeing in the rain (with umbrellas borrowed from the hotel), we were stoked to relax with the DVD's and pizza ordered in for us! We even took advantage of the space by practicing a bit of yoga.
The one thing we weren't so impressed with was the tour over the Hai Van Pass which the hotel arranged for us. This had come highly recommended by a colleague of mine, but I guess a lot of the experience comes down to which driver you get - it wasn't our lucky day. I would however highly recommend the DMZ Tour, a full on day, once again the hotel can arrange this for you.
+ Best value for money !
We spent two nights here. It was by far the best value for money hotel - we booked through Agoda with no problems. The staff were so friendly all the time. The room was ok. We were upgraded for free to a deluxe room. The only complaint was the bed - it was too hard and the two mattress' joined together was a problem we encountered throughout Vietnam - made for a very uncomfortable nights sleep. The concierge gave us two bottles of free water for our car trip to Hoi An, thoughtful and kind. The location of the hotel was ok. We found a wonderful lady who made the best iced Vietnamese coffee diagonally opposite the DMZ Bar on Le Loi street. The cyclo guys in Hue were friendly and didn't rip people off too much. The Citadel is worth visiting - we happened across two elephants whilst we were there! Unfortunately, it rained the whole time we were in Hue, it was the start of the rainy season though.
+ Best Hotel all round !
We were picked up at the railway station and taken to this hotel, from that moment the staff were just brilliant. It has to be the warmest and friendliest bunch of people in Vietnam. Nothing was a problem, breakfasts were great and we were always greeted with smiles and they always responded well to our attempts to speak the language. We decided to stay another day and even though all their double rooms were booked out they moved both couples (us) into a family suite with no problems. They advised us of the best way to get to Hoi An and then arranged a very cheap but modern mini van to take us there with sight seeing stops on the way or commentary of the area we were travelling through.
+ Lovely Hotel and Exceptional Staff !
We stayed at the Orchid hotel in September 2010. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to the Honeymoon suite which was a beautiful room with an amazing spa bath. We booked our tours through the hotel and they were also great.
Our children had a room on the 6th floor which was spacious and also very clean. Rooms came with computer/internet access and a DVD player. The hotel is centrally located and close to many delicious restaurants. Overall the Orchid hotel is excellent value for money and I highly recommend it..
