Thanh Binh III Hotel

+ Nothing to complain about, great value, great position and friendly and helpful staff !

We have been to Hoi An several times and had looked at this hotel before, we read some of the poor reviews and were hesitant but decided to give them a go this time anyway. We stayed in a deluxe room and the only issue was a minor leak from an aircon, staff were friendly and chatty, and helpful with cars and where to buy clothes at fair prices, Breakfast was fine and the hotel overall clean. It seems to us that poor reviews are from those who want a five star hotel but only want to pay three star rates.

+ an OK place to stay !

The Thanh Binh III was a reasonable place to stay for the price. There was a good buffet breakfast, and the location of the hotel is excellent. The rooms were nothing special, but decent enough. We lucked into being in Hoi An during the full moon festival when the locals were celebrating - there were shrines set up on the streets all over town with people burning incense and paper. People lit lanterns to float on the river, and we went on an enjoyable rowboat ride among all the lanterns. There were lots of good restaurants along the river where we had fish cooked in banana leaves. We found another restaurant not far from the hotel, but slightly out of the main part of town which we really enjoyed - the Laugh Cafe. It was run by a lovely young couple who were just about to get married. They also run cooking classes, which we did not have time to take, but the owner still took us into the kitchen to show us how to make banana pancakes. We really enjoyed Hoi An, and were content with our choice of accommodation.

+ Good location and helpful staff !

Was the first hotel we looked at after a long train ride from Hanoi. Got 2 x 'superior' rooms overlooking the pool but changed our one after being woken by a pool party from visitors from Thanh Binh 2 whose guests also have acces to the pool. Pool clean but heavily chlorinated and closed for our last day and a half because they couldn't get the balance right - too dirty? Rooms clean enough and didn't feel dated. Yes, it's noisy because no hotel in vietnam that we stayed at had carpet so all voices echo, it's just one of those things. Buffet breakfast ok. Staff very helpful concerning where to go to good tailor but more than likely get a kickback as Hoi An inhabitants all out to rip anyone and everyone off for whatever they can. Bargain heavily!
