Hoi An Hotel

+ Great location but rooms need a revamp !

Great location and lovely big hotel with gorgeous gardens and a huge pool but hotel was built over 20years ago and rooms need a little bit of an "uplift". They are comfortable, clean and nice, but for the price you are paying the rooms could do with a refurbishment. Breakfast was average-enough food to fill you up, but nothing extra to make you go "WOW". Lots of tour groups use this hotel, so prices at the restaurant and bar are in US $ and the most expensive I had seen at a hotel of a 3 1/2 star rating in Vietnam. Rooms were large with plently of room to put your luggage and walk around still.

+ Very Friendly, welcoming staff especially the Chef !

Best hotel we stayed at in Vietnam, had excellent massage there. Clean, historic and good location. Only bad thing was hard beds but hey, the werent un-barrable(:

+ Great Location !

We originally booked three nights here and then extended our stay for another two. Hoi An is so much slower than Hanoi. It was nice to relax for a while. This hotel is in a great location, very close to the Old Town. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Our room was massive (Junior Suite). The pool was a godsend after walking around the town to come back and relax in. Only one thing was a minus point and that was when you removed your key from the slot which works the electricity, the aircon went off as well so when you returned to your room, it was hot. Maybe the newer sections of this hotel were not like this but we were in the old wing. Otherwise I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Hoi An and looking for good reasonably priced accommodation.
Breakfast was very nice and a lot to choose from.

+ Don't waste your money !

We arrived late to Hoi An hotel after booking a room for 2 nights last minute. The pictures and reviews all seemed fairly good so we weren't worried. As soon as we were shown to our room through a very old, large scary looking hall way we knew we should be worried. The room consisted of a hard-as-a-rock bed, a bathroom that hasn't seen an update since the 70's (mouldy tiles and shower curtain) and an overall really dark and depressing room. We then recieved a call from reception asking if we were happy with our room (as if she knew we wouldn't be). After telling her of our disappointment she moved us to another room....pretty much the same thing only bigger only with an additional 70's style couch (not cool 70's either!). We were so exhausted we decided to stay the night and look for alternative accommodation the next day.

The next day after our average-at-best breakfast, we found alternative accommodation and checked out (losing a nights accommodation as we checked out after 12pm). One of the ladies on reception to her credit was lovely and tried to have us stay and offered to move us to a better room (which we declined but may have been nice when we originally checked in). She told us that our wing (aptly named the 'history wing') of the property has not been renovated and will be renovated in the next year or so. Well a little too late for us it seems.

Overall, it was not all bad....the pool is nice and the location is good....but you can get these things in other nicer hotels/guest houses in Hoi An.
