Empress Hotel

+ Alright room but exellent location !

We stayed at the Emrpess for just one night. However, we are not really regret about this hotel at all. The staffs are very friendly people, doesn't have much knowledge about other top destination in Vietnam but they know about Da Lat in quite details.
The location is very good as it is opposite the lake and only a short walk into the main restaurant area.
The room is decent, quite dark. but what we had was clean enough and we had definately a very good sleep at this hotel.

+ Good location !

Good for the money paid. Central location to many attractions, shops, Dalat market place, lake, and different restaurants to select from. However, hotel is an old building. Many electrical outlets are worn-out and unuseable. Also, furniture are very old. Need replacements and improvement.
Liked — Clean, good location.
Disliked — Room equipped with old furniture and worn-out electrical outlets.
Tips/Secrets — Don't ask taxi driver(s) for sightseeing/ attractions. Ask Hotel's clerk for schedule and available tour.

+ Great location !

This hotel is ideally located by the lake and within walking distance to the center of DA LAT. However, the supposedly free daily breakfast service is a terrible let-down. I was deprived of decent breakfast because the hotel staff claimed that her hotel will not offer comprehensive Western-styled breakfast on days during which few tourists stay at this hotel. In other words, if you stay at this hotel in a slow season, expect NO BREAKFAST served at all! This is unacceptable, because customers are expected to give up their right to a decent breakfast.
Also, the hotel gave me a room in which the safe-deposit box is not working at all. I reported to the front-desk clerk; he promised to fix the problem. By the time I was checking-out of this hotel 3 days later, the safe-deposit-box is still NOT working. this is typical of my experiences with the tourist industry in vietnam, which offers wonderful services in general; yet, it's the lack of attention to detail that always marks my 4 visits in VIETNAM with many small regrets.
Liked — This hotel is ideally built on a hill facing the XUAN HUONG lake. You might actually enjoy the morning light reflecting on the lake through your hotel room window at no cost! Taking a walk at a leisurely pace at six in the morning along the lakeshore while breathing in FRESH AIR is the highlight of staying at this hotel.
