A very pleasant stay. Exceptional staff, nothing was too much trouble, very polite and friendly. Very good rooms over water. Very pleasant ambience. Steep prices in the restaurants
I was there for Business, wish it were for Leisure !
Very nice hotel. Very nice setting. Ref pictures below. Only downside is the weather in October (when I was there) I thought was too hot. 30C+ during the day. Well above 20C at night. Humid! I was told that it is much better in Dec - Feb.
Great room. Great Service.
Here are the downsides:
1) insects - bring bugspray! Especially at night.
2) When wandering around the streets just outside the hotel, prepare yourself for culture shock if you're not used to seeing roasted Dog on a spit. (I have a beagle at home so I might be biased on this one!)
Overall I'd still rate this hotel highly.
A huge Cathedral on the lake !
I was been there for a conference.
The Hotel seems nice, on the lake, with different buildings, the rooms are very nice, with balcony and exactly the same the other rooms iternational 5 stars standard.
The bathrooms are huge and well equipped, of course, but...
18 euro to have an internet connection, and no wireless...so only one laptop x time.
Food was good, of course, but not the same that I expected.
But the worst is the staff: really unfriendly a rude...I felt to be a host and not a guest.
Just arrived the staff was really not attentive with 3 ladies...we had to carry our luggages...a real shame...
Every question was a nightmare to have a good answer, my feeling was it's a burocrathic hotel...
Yes, the scenery is nice, but too big, too dispersive.
It's very far from the old town , 40 min by taxi...
The staff is really spoiled and unfriendly, cold as fish...
I never go back there, for sure!
Great rooms, location not ideal & facilities close early !
Stayed here for 2 nights Sept 2010 to ease ourselves into Vietnam & Hanoi.
Lake was undergoing drainage work when we were there so view was not nice from room, maybe it'll be lovely when and if all the rubble has been removed.
Rooms were lovely, beds & huge bath :)
Location a bit of a stretch from town centre/old quarter, walked it once but better to get a taxi, approx 50VND. Concierge helped us out with a cheating taxi too charging 5 times the rate on his meter.
Staff were professional but not overly friendly or welcoming.
Bar / cafe closed early evenings (weekend) ao no chance of a late drink on arrival back from the bustle of city.
Pool opens 12-6pm I think, which rules out a dip by anyone who spent the day exploring Hanoi, or anyone hoping for an early morning swim before checkout :/
Probably would not recommend it as I think other hotels nearer to city can compete.
Perfect Stay in Hanoi !
Stayed at the Intercontinental for 1 night and everything about the hotel was perfect. Checked in was quick and fast. The hotel setting was beautiful and the room was spacious with a nice balcony overlooking West Lake. The bed was the most comfortable bed that my bf and I had slept in for a hotel in Vietnam, which was a nice surprise. We used the concierge service to locate a famous restaurant that only serves "Bun Cha" which is a signature noodle and grilled pork dish in Hanoi. The concierge knew exactly what we were talking about and even printed a map for the taxi driver to get us to the correct place. We had a cocktail at the Sunset Bar, and the drinks were fantastic, with a beautiful view of the sun setting over Hanoi. Great job to the Intercontinental and the staffs, and we will most definitely stay here again when visiting Hanoi.
